SiHing Darren Lee Debono

Sihing Darren Lee Debono was born in December 1997 and began his Wing Tsun journey at the age of three. Growing up in a martial arts family, Darren was immersed early on in the discipline and artistry of Wing Tsun, training under the expert guidance of Master Joseph Debono at our Mosta school.

 

By the age of 16, Darren had taken on the role of Wing Tsun Juniors instructor—a position that uniquely qualifies him to teach children, having transitioned from a young student to an adept instructor himself. Since turning 18, he has also actively contributed to adult classes, broadening his impact. Over the years, Darren has consistently demonstrated excellence, earning his 4th Technician Grade at an international seminar held in Sicily in 2023. Remarkably, he was the youngest student in AWTA history to achieve his 1st and 2nd Superior Grades in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

 

In addition to his martial arts accomplishments, Darren holds a Bachelor (Honours) of Science in Sport and Physical Activity and a Masters in Teaching and Learning in Physical Education from the University of Malta. He is also a qualified UEFA Physical Trainer, equipped to coach at the highest level of Maltese club football. As a full-time Physical Education teacher working with middle and secondary school students, Darren’s expertise has been pivotal in reshaping the martial arts curriculum in state schools, ensuring a richer and more engaging experience for all learners.
