Master Joseph R. Debono

Master Joseph R. Debono (5TG), Chief Instructor of Wing Tsun Malta

Master Joseph R. Debono was born in April 1970 and has been passionate about martial arts since a young age. As a fan of Bruce Lee, he joined a local martial arts club at the age of 8 and trained under various instructors over the years. However, his search for a more effective martial art led him to discover the Wing Tsun  system. It was through this journey that he met Master Michele Stellato, whose expertise deeply inspired him.

"Meeting this great instructor convinced me to pursue the Wing Tsun system, as the martial arts I was training in at the time were not as efficient," Master Joseph recalls. Despite his Master being based in Italy and frequently traveling across Europe for seminars, Master Joseph was determined to be one of his students.

After many years of rigorous training, Master Stellato invited him to become the Chief Instructor for Wing Tsun in Malta. This pivotal moment led to the establishment of the first Wing Tsun school in Malta, a challenging yet rewarding endeavor that has now been in operation for over 26 years.

In addition to his martial arts career, Master Joseph was heavily involved in the security sector, owning an agency that provided security consultancy, VIP protection, and services for various nightclubs. However, today, he has fully committed himself to the development and promotion of the Authentic Wing Tsun system.

On November 24, 2007, during a special seminar held in Caserta, Italy, Master Joseph was officially nominated as Sifu by Master Michele Stellato.

Master Joseph married Ruth in 1992, and together they have two sons, Brandon Ronald and Darren Lee, both of whom are Wing Tsun practitioners.

Master Joseph's theoretical and practical training are continuously overseen by his Chief and International Instructor, Master Michele Stellato. As Chief Instructor in Malta, Master Joseph not only represents Wing Tsun but is also committed to ensuring its success and growth.
